DST Output

DST Systems, one of Kansas City’s top 10 employers, chose Hoffman Cortes as the general contractor to accomplish the task of renovating a 95-year-old building, and constructing an adjacent 240,000 square-foot-production facility. The project was christened the “Westside Business Park” because of its location in Kansas City’s railroad district. The historic structures, known as the roundhouses, were built in 1914, and functioned as locomotive engine service bays for Kansas city’s Union Station until 1988. After the roundhouses closed, they fell into disrepair.

Hoffman Cortes worked with teams of architects, engineers and subcontractors to renovate the structure into high-end corporate offices, while maintaining the historical integrity of the building.
Construction of the new production facility called for a completely different strategy. The production facility, which would also serve as a warehouse, required state-of the-art construction to support DST’s technology and equipment.

This building complements the roundhouses and won an Excellence in 2002 Concrete Award from the Concrete Promotional Group for the ultra-smooth floor that was laid in 65,000 square-foot pours.
