The three-part fountain system consisting of the Women’s Leadership Fountain, Meyer Monument and Fitz-Simmons Monument on Paseo Boulevard were living on borrowed time before the City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks & Recreation, Central Exchange and entrepreneur Ollie Gates decided to revitalize the 107-year-old fountains. Hoffman Cortes alongside Susan Richards Johnson & Associates, Inc., partnered to completely rebuild the oldest fountain in Kansas City, the Women’s Leadership fountain in early 2009. We reconstructed the fountain using salvaged materials, replaced the baluster system and fountain with the original material – Indiana limestone.
